Section 144 in code of Criminal Procedure (CRPC) 1973
In recent days we all are hearing Section 144(crpc) in the news as on the issue of Coronavirus our Government has imposed this act.
Section 144 (CRPC) is imposed in emergency and urgent situations.
This action is taken by the State government when there is an emergency in the state, the state takes action with the help of District Magistrate and Sub-divisional Magistrate. This order is given by the district magistrate to prevent citizens from visiting public places.
These orders shall remain for 2 months only, but if a particular state feels the situation is not under control then state and district magistrate can extend this order for 6 months.
This order is given when the state thinks there might be a problem for citizens or public property.
The main motive of this section is to prevent people from moving to a particular place.
