If you are aiming to be an IAS, IPS officer then there are some most important qualities that each aspirant should have. If these qualities are within you then it a great achievement for you, but if any qualities lack then start working on these qualities.



1. Leadership: This is the most important quality that every civil servant must have within him. As an IAS or IPS have to deal with all kinds of situations and different kind of people. It is mandatory to officer to make decisions in hard times. In this situation, the quality of leadership is needed. 

2. Administration:  As IAS itself says it is an administrative service, this quality is needed to be an aspirant, this is a key responsibility of an officer to ensure the administration. To administrate the jurisdiction and ensure law and order.

3.Knowledgeable:   To administrate the district an officer must be knowledgable, to know the law and to have the geographical knowledge of the district. To know the historical background of the area. This quality helps an IAS to work effectively.

4.Hard Working:  If you find preparation for IAS a cumbersome task, then in the future you are going to face more problems.  An IAS officer has to deal with all kinds of work, he has no special work area, so you as an aspirant need to build this quality.

5. Communication Skills: You as an IAS, need to interact with various people. Which include common people, Politicians, Businessman, some times people with the aggressive nature, may come to you. So it is an ideal responsibility of an IAS. You need to inculcate this habit within you.

6.Ethics: When you are on a responsible post, when you have the power to take decisions, at that time you must follow your ethics.
In India one of the biggest problem is corruption, it is a duty of each aspirant to take a pledge that we will serve our nation with honesty and never be included in unethical activities. With this pledge, our nation will be a better place to live.
